The MOC Foundation focusses on 3 key priorities that is the Relief of Poverty and Sickness, the Preservation and Protection of Good Health, and the Advancement of Education & Religion.
Our Board of Trustees
​The Board of the MOC Foundation are a group of professional individuals from a variety of backgrounds that embody The MOC Foundation's spirit and key priorities to deliver tangible lasting results for both people and communities.

Prof. Jose Martines (Chairman)
Jose was born in Brazil where he trained as a paediatrician and taught medicine. He did his postgraduate studies (MSC and PhD) at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. For 25 years he worked for the WHO in Geneva coordinating research on newborn and child health. After retirement he worked as Scientific Coordinator at the Centre for International Health of the University of Bergen, Norway. He was one of the founders and currently Chairs the MOC Charitable Foundation.

Adolfo Crawford (Secretary)
Adolfo was born in Colombia, a former software engineer who worked for the financial services for 4 years before moving to the UK to study his Maters Degree. He is currently the parish administrator of the oldest Catholic Church in the UK. He joined the MOC in 2008 and has been the Hon Secretary since then.

Andrew Lane
Andrew has over two decades of experience within the financial services sector, currently working for a FTSE 100 company. Andrew graduated from the University of Exeter with a BA Hons.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Andrew is a family man with a passion for the outdoors. He met his wife on their first day of university and they have a son together. In his free time, Andrew enjoys travel and dog walks in the scenic Brecon Beacon.

Matthew Cavanagh
Matthew has over 20 years of legal experience specialising in asset and investment management, funds and finance law. Most recently, Matthew was Director, Executive Legal Counsel of sovereign wealth fund, the Qatar Investment Authority. Matthew is a solicitor qualified in England & Wales, Ireland and Australia and a Liveryman of the City of London Solicitors’ Company. He holds an LLM, LLB (Hons) and BA from The University of Queensland.

James Lane
James joined the trustees in 2023. He has held roles across Digitalisation and Sustainability for various FMCG organisations. James now works in Innovation as part of the Global Consumer Officer for a FTSE100 company. ​He holds a BSc in Business Management from Cardiff University, an MSc in International Business Management from University of York and certification in Sustainable Supply Chain for International Business from HBS.

Stephen Screech
Stephen was born in North Devon and attended the University of Durham. He worked at the Bank of England for 18 years before moving to Switzerland to work in financial services. He was one of the founders of the MOC Charitable Foundation. He is a Knight of the papal Order of Saint Gregory.

Maurizio Fantato
Maurizio is an adventurer turned communicator. From radio presenter to digital strategist, Maurizio has tackled projects across industries, including travel and tour operations, hospitality, disaster relief, and cybersecurity. Currently, managing complex interdisciplinary projects in the public sector.

Paul Atkinson
Paul Atkinson is Emeritus Professor of Sociology at Cardiff University. Recent publications include Ethnographic Engagements, with Sara Delamont (Routledge 2021) and Reflexivity and Social Research, with Emilie Morwenna Whitaker (Palgrave 2022). He was a co-editor of the SAGE Foundations of Social Research Methods. Paul is also a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences and of the Learned Society of Wales.

Robert Parsons (Treasurer)
Computer Systems Analyst in Pharmaceutical Transport Sector. 40 years experience as a trustee and volunteer of several charities including Round Table and Rotary International.
