Our Board of Trustees

The Board of the MOC Foundation is made up of experienced professionals from a wide range of backgrounds, each bringing valuable expertise and a shared commitment to our mission. Together, they embody the Foundation’s spirit and priorities, ensuring that our work delivers tangible, lasting results for the people and communities we serve.

Prof. Jose Martines (Chairman)

Jose trained as a paediatrician in Brazil before completing his MSc and PhD at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. He spent 25 years with the World Health Organization in Geneva, leading research on newborn and child health, and later served as Scientific Coordinator at the University of Bergen’s Centre for International Health. A founding member of the MOC Foundation, Jose now serves as its Chair, guiding the charity with decades of global health experience.

Adolfo Crawford (Secretary)

Adolfo was born in Colombia and began his career as a software engineer, working in financial services before moving to the UK to complete his Master’s degree. He is now the Parish Administrator of the oldest Catholic church in the UK. Adolfo joined the MOC Foundation in 2008 and has served as Hon. Secretary ever since.

Andrew Lane

Andrew has over two decades of experience within the financial services sector, currently working for a FTSE 100 company. Andrew graduated from the University of Exeter with a BA Hons.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Andrew is a family man with a passion for the outdoors. He met his wife on their first day of university and they have a son together. In his free time, Andrew enjoys travel and dog walks in the scenic Brecon Beacon.

Matthew Cavanagh

Matthew has over 20 years of legal experience specialising in asset and investment management, funds and finance law. Most recently, Matthew was Director, Executive Legal Counsel of sovereign wealth fund, the Qatar Investment Authority. Matthew is a solicitor qualified in England & Wales, Ireland and Australia and a Liveryman of the City of London Solicitors’ Company. He holds an LLM, LLB (Hons) and BA from The University of Queensland.

James Lane

James joined the Board of Trustees in 2023, having supported the Foundation for many years beforehand. A graduate of Cardiff University (BSc), the University of York (MSc), and a postgraduate of Harvard Business School and a fellow from the Chartered Management Institute (CMI). James has held management roles across FTSE 100 companies and management consulting firms. James also serves on the Client Advisory Board for Monday.com.

Stephen Screech

Stephen was born in North Devon and studied at the University of Durham. He spent 18 years at the Bank of Englandbefore moving to Switzerland to continue his career in financial services. A founding member of the MOC Charitable Foundation, Stephen also holds the distinction of being a Knight of the Papal Order of Saint Gregory.

Maurizio Fantato

Maurizio is an adventurer turned communicator. From radio presenter to digital strategist, Maurizio has tackled projects across industries, including travel and tour operations, hospitality, disaster relief, and cybersecurity. Currently, Maurizio manages complex interdisciplinary projects in the public sector.

Deglan Holland

Deglan joined the Board in 2025. A Cardiff University graduate in Mathematics and Computer Science, he has built a career in technology leadership across consultancy, transformation, and product innovation. He is also committed to widening opportunity, mentoring young engineers and previously serving as a trustee of an educational charity.

Robert Parsons (Treasurer) 

Robert is a computer systems Analyst in Pharmaceutical Transport Sector. He has 40 years experience as a trustee and volunteer of several charities including Round Table and Rotary International.
